Wreck of the Avalon

A couple of dives on the wreck of the Avalon on Marc's boat. Top layer was 70 or so and milky, bottom was 55 and clear 1st dive, chunky green algae on the second dive.

I messed around with some remote slave strobes in the bow. This is a great way to spend a dive, it takes a long time to set up and you swim a lap to make every little adjustment. 30 min flies by, and you are warm and out of air at the end of it. I don't think there is any secret to it other than trial and error and swimming.

There were a lot of Spanish shawls on the bow. They were big, like 4", eating size.

Firefox 3 available, color-managed browsing

Firefox 3 is now available. one nice thing for photographers is that it’s color managed, it obeys profiles tagged to photos, but this capability needs to be turned on, it’s not on by default.

Mac Safari is a color managed browser. Not sure what else is.

Amazing regs

I got my Poseidon Extreme reg back on July 25, 2005. About 400 dives and 3 years later, no service, nothing but rinsing... it finally needs a slight adjustment to the cracking pressure in the second stage. Never have I had a reg go so long and work so well, not to mention, so easy to work on.

Tough week to be part of my camera rig

Last week in Lembeh, my Olympus PT-03 housing leaked, looks like a bad mold at the factory. My Athena ring flash quit working, looks like poor construction/soldering. My Aeris Veo dive computer started giving me long stops on short dives, it also did that last trip after a couple days of diving. Yesterday at home on the Eureka oil rig, my Uwatec Tec 2G computer had a button pop out; the computer filled up with water and quit. I'm down to my Suunto stinger for a dive computer, and it's giving me a low battery warning, and it hates diving more than once a day anyway.
